The day started on a bright and early on the morning of March 13th and we welcomed new member Paul Mascall. We had 13 Saabs that departed from Narellan McDonalds, headed for the Train-works Railway Museum in Thirlmere. The drive through Razorback was very pleasant and scenic.
Upon our arrival at the Museum, our members were greeted by volunteers from the museum for a guided tour. This interesting and informative session provided members with a short history of the hundreds of locomotives and rolling stock housed at the museum, and a different perspective on transportation as we know it today when we have now much faster trains carrying hundreds of thousands of commuters every day.
After a short break, we made our way to Vabys restaurant in Picton for lunch which is in the old station masters house of Picton Train Station continuing on the same theme of this gathering. Over lunch we had a chance to catch up with old friends and welcome some new friends into the SAAB Club Family. It was good to see I nice mix of models on the run, from older 900 Aeros right up to 2011 9-3 and a good mix of 900’s 900s’ 9000’s 9-3’s and 9-5’s. All in all everyone had a joyful time exploring other forms of transport other than Saabs.
